COVID 19 response / Telephonic support for those who are distressed: we need volunteers to prepare for increased needs.
Sent on behalf of Mat Roosa:
As you know Contact Community Services continues to operate 211 and crisis hotlines that are providing support to many people during these challenging times.
In order to plan for a potential increase in need among those who are reaching out to Contact for support, we are seeking volunteers willing to provide telephonic support from your own location.
If you are willing to offer some time to this effort. Please click the link below to fill out our survey.
We will then contact you regarding next steps.
If you know others who might be interested in sharing their skills to support those in need, please forward this email to them.
Please note that we will not be asking volunteers to respond to calls seeking information regarding the wide array of supports available via 211 (housing, food, transportation, etc). We will only be asking you to provide social/emotional supports for those dealing with the stress of the crisis. These may be people with new challenges, or pre-existing behavioral health conditions, who need support. Contact will not be forwarding life threatening/ high risk crisis calls, as these will be dealt with through their existing system.
