Special Instructions for Grievance Day 2020
Grievance Day procedures have been changed for 2020, because of Coronavirus restrictions and concerns. The changes implemented are based on options included in the Governor’s Executive Order # 202.22 signed on April 20, 2020
Grievance Day in the Town of Van Buren is Tuesday May 26, 2020.
Required form RP-524 including documentation and a letter to the Board of Assessment Review must be completed and delivered to the Town of Van Buren Assessor’s Office by May 26th(Grievance Day). Property owners may mail, email or place completed forms in the Town Office drop box. The drop box is located to the left of the front entrance doors.

Please remember Monday May 25 is the Memorial Day Holiday with no mail service. Mail received after Tuesday May 26 can not be accepted by the Board of Assessment Review.

The Assessors Office will contact property owners by phone to schedule a phone appointment on Grievance Day with a Board of Assessment Review member. Appointments will be scheduled after completed paperwork is received, please include a phone number on your paperwork. Property owners will be contacted by phone by Board of Assessment Review members at the scheduled time. Please answer the phone!! If the Board of Assessment Review is unable to reach property owners by phone, they will consider only the paperwork submitted.
No property owners will have in-person appointments with the Board of Assessment Review.
