Assessments vs. Taxes: What’s the Difference?
The Assessor’s Office is responsible for placing an equitable value on each parcel located in Van Buren. This is achieved each year through annually updating values to maintain assessments at 100%, as prescribed by the New York State Office of Real Property Tax Services. The Assessor is available by appointment throughout the year to discuss assessments. The functions of the Assessor’s Office include:

- March 1 Exemption Filing Deadline
- May 1 Tentative Roll Filed
- July 1 Final Roll Filed
