The 2023 Winter/Spring Programs has been posted online (we will continue to update the page as more programs become available).  Please click the “parks and recreation – rec programs” link above to see it. You can also find them in local banks, the Baldwinsville Public Library, the Van Buren Town Hall and the Chamber of Commerce for a copy!

**What programs or special events would YOU like to see us offer? We would love to hear from you! Please email (link above) or call us at (315) 638-4727, weekdays from 8:30am.-4:00pm.

The Town of Van Buren Parks and Recreation Department is located in VAN BUREN CENTRAL PARK. The park has amenities such as softball fields, basketball court, tennis courts, handball court, Van Buren Pool (outdoor – seasonal), a pond for fishing, and picnic facilities of various sizes to rent for private parties or company picnics!

PARK HOURS:  9:00am-8:00pm., Mondays-Fridays.    Parking, on the upper hill, is open from sunrise to sunset.   The time the park closes is posted at the park entrances, and that is when the gates are LOCKED, so please plan your exit accordingly!  The sledding hill, on Connors Rd, is open everyday.  For sledding rules, click here.  Please stay off the pond (not to be used for walking, skating, hockey, fishing, etc).

VAN BUREN POOL:

FISHING: Fishing is allowed in Van Buren Pond from April 1st to November 1st. Normal D.E.C. laws apply, and we encourage “catch and release”. It is usually stocked once more in the summer, but that will be determined by Carpenters Brook Fish Hatchery. If it gets stocked again, we will post a notice here to that effect.

DOGS: Dogs are welcome in Van Buren Park, but must be leashed and under their owners control at all times. This is mandated by the Town of Van Buren’s Leash Law, and applies whether the park is full or empty of other patrons. We would appreciate the cooperation of all dog owners – the Towns Dog Control Officer will be contacted if necessary.

We would also ask dog owners to kindly pick up after their furry friends, and please do not allow them on the basketball or tennis courts. Thank you.

We certainly can appreciate dog owners wanting to allow their beloved pets to run and play – if you have not already, give the Good Dog Park at Onondaga Lake Park a try. It is just inside the park entrance off Rt. 370, near the intersection with John Glenn Blvd.

PAVILION RESERVATIONS: Click on the “Pavilion Reservations” link above for information (and pictures!) of facilities available. We begin taking reservations for each season beginning the first business day in February for Town of Van Buren residents and companies and organizations within the Town of Van Buren limits, and for all other interested parties beginning a week later.

RECREATION PROGRAMS: The Town of Van Buren Parks and Recreation Department offers recreation programs for all ages. These change seasonally; all are listed in the Parks and Recreation Departments program brochures. These are published 3 times per year (January, May and September) and distributed to schools in the Baldwinsville School District (now through an email blast), the banks in the Baldwinsville area, the Baldwinsville Public Library, and the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce. They can also be found at the Van Buren Town Hall, and at the Parks and Recreation Office.

We also advertise our programs and services in The Post-Standard and the Baldwinsville Messenger.
